We believe that all children should have the right to live in a family environment. Sometimes they can't live in their own family so we recruit, train and support families who offer children an alternative until they can return to their own family, or move on to independence. This may be for a few weeks, months or for the longer term.
Social workers in 2 teams (covering the West of Fife and East & Central Fife) assess people who wish to become foster carers and support them while they are caring for children who are accommodated by the Council because they are unable, either temporarily or permanently, to live with their own family.
The teams also assess the suitablity of people who wish to adopt and arrange placements for children who need adoptive parents. The service provides post-adoption support to people who have been affected by adoption. This can include adopted people, birth parents, brothers and sisters and adoptive parents.
